It is always very nice to get away for a weekend break once you have arranged it.
Sometimes finding a place to go to is the worst bit because it involves searching for somewhere that we might enjoy, finding accommodation and arranging the journey.
Going somewhere different for a weekend break is interesting because if like me, you enjoy exploring, everything is fresh and new. Throw in a bit of shopping, a meal out or two, a sociable evening in the pub and I ‘m happy.
It’s just nice to get away for a long weekend break.
A long weekend break is best over 3 or 4 nights if that’s possible because travelling takes up so much time. The firat day enable you to relax and get your bearings and perhaps decide what you would like to see. Tourist Information offices are excellent in letting you know what your destination offers and usually provide free tourist literature about places to visit. Sometimes it is possible to obtain that online.
If you rent a holiday cottage for your stay, the cottage owner should have a book detailing the best places to visit, the best restaurants, walks and other things you may wish to do. They are in the business of trying to ensure that you have a really good weekend break because you may want to repeat the experience or stay for longer next time.
If the cottage owner has their own website, possible places to visit will be listed because most of us go on holiday not just because there is a lovely holiday cottage but because there is something we would like to see and do in the area. If you are interested in booking a cottage for a weekend break, bear in mind that most cottage long weekend breaks run Friday to Monday, or you may prefer a mid-week short break which can be 3 or 4 days in the middle of a week and can be a touch cheaper.
Time is valuable and many of us would prefer to have several short breaks instead of one long one. If you just take the odd day off either side of a weekend, you can make your leave go further.
